Mandalicious
Mandarin cello

Key Botanicals:
• Mandarins
Tasting Notes
• Seductively sweet with a hint of sass.
Mandalicious is best served over ice and enjoyed with friends.
Like our Lemoncello it's great poured over a rich creamy vanilla icecream, and
some like it with either soda or lemonade!!
It’s the same base gin that we use for the strawberry gin and the lemoncello.
We reached out to the local growers to make sure we had the right mandarins to do the job. The traditional “Imperial” mandarin while easy to source and to peel – left too much of the pith on the peel. The pith or the white stuff can be quite bitter and we did not want that in the final product. We ended up using an “Arfourer” mandarin which was much more difficult to peel, but the majority of the pith remained on the fruit and not the zest. We were able to source all 120kg of “Arfourer” mandarins direct from the grower in Mypolonga before they had any of those horrible fruit stickers put in them! Ron and I spent many hours sitting at the bar in the shearing shed peeling mandarins with a knife!
We were going to call this drop Mandicello – but I had the first sip and said “expletive – that’s delicicous” and so it became Mandalicious. We had friends from NSW visiting and the kids were bored so they decided to create a bottle label. There clever Mum (shout out to Marika Garton) spent just a few minutes in Canva creating a homage to the lovely ladies on the entrance doors and there it is.
Ultimately ‘cellos are a flavoured liqueur known as a 'digestivo', or digestive, that aids in breaking down food . The traditional flavor, and most well known, is Limoncello but we love our Mandy
Typical ‘cellos have a ABV or alcohol by volume of between 24 and 30%. For reference, gin is usually 40%ABV. Mandy has an ABV of 30%
Being a digestive, its best drunk after your pizza with nothing but a big block of ice. Another option is pouring over your favourite vanilla icecream.
We have some people who like Mandy as a mixer with either soda or lemonade.
At the 2025 Rural Womens Day we commemorated Mandy with her own cocktail. It’s a take on a Cosmopolitan so we called it the “Country Cosmo”. With the help of AI, it acquired a second name of “Randy Crandy”
Its an easy one to make, which is a good thing for in summer, I guarantee you are going to have more than one!
In a stemless wine glass half filled with ice pour:
60ml Mallee Spirit Mandalicious
60ml Cranberry Juice
60ml Soda
Garnish with green apple that has been soaking in lemon juice and frozen cranberries or blueberries.
We also use Mandalicious in a cocktail using the Myrtle Spirit Boobialla
